LIT’s olive branch: One-time fix to mend broken payments launched
Ludhiana: The local bodies department has as introduced a one-time relaxation policy to regularise properties allotted by the Ludhiana Improvement Trust (LIT) where allottees failed to deposit the remaining balances as per their original allotment letters. Eligible residents have until April 30 to apply and must clear all outstanding payments by June 15 to secure benefits under this state-wide scheme. LIT chairman Tarsem Bhinder urged the public to utilise this policy, which was issued following significant demand at the government level for all Punjab municipal improvement trusts.Bhinder informed that after considering the demand of the general public at the govt level, a one-time relaxation policy has been issued for all the municipal improvement trusts of the state of Punjab, whose remaining balance as per the allotment letter has not been deposited by the allottees within the stipulated time. This exemption will be applicable only in those cases in which the allottees have deposited one-fourth part of the amount after allotment of the property concerned, according to which the allottee will be able to get his property regularised by depositing the remaining amount at the applicable rate (at simple interest) and restoration charges at the rate of 2.5% at the reserve rate for the year 2025-26 as per the rules issued from time to time. Complete exemption has been given on penalty interest. He shared that through this public notice, the allottees/transferees/owners of the properties falling under the development schemes of the trust are informed that if the properties allotted by the LIT, whose remaining balance as per the allotment letter has not been deposited by the allottees within the stipulated time, want to get the benefits under the policy issued by the govt to regularise the properties by depositing the remaining balance, then they can get the benefits by depositing the outstanding amount by June 15 at the trust office by hand or by giving a request on e-mail ID. Allottees, transferees, or current owners may submit their outstanding amounts at the trust office by hand or via email. For further clarification, the LIT office remains open on all working days for public inquiries regarding these revised regulations.Demolition drive in Kitchlu NagarIn a separate development, LIT officials executed a significant demolition drive in Kitchlu Nagar. Backed by a heavy police contingent, the trust took formal possession of a site originally intended for a community center, the allotment of which had been previously cancelled. During the operation, officials demolished the existing boundary wall and internal structures. Following the successful recovery of the land, the trust now plans to initiate a replanning process to determine the future development of the reclaimed site.MSID:: 129977456 413 |
