Inter Services Hockey Championship: Army Red defeats Indian Navy in finals

JALANDHAR: In the finals of 68th Inter Services Hockey Championship, conducted at Army Astroturf ground, Jalandhar Cantt from March 31 to April 4, Army Red Hockey team defeated Indian Navy team in a keenly contested match.


The high intensity clash ended at a score of 1-1 and Army Red won the Penalty Shoot out with 3-2 to emerge winner. The match commenced on April 3 was completed on April 4 due to low light conditions. The Services team was selected which will participate in Hockey Nationals scheduled later this year. Army Green and Air Force were other teams participating in the Championship.

Maj Gen Sanjay Maini, Chief of Staff, HQ 11 Corps awarded the coveted trophy to Col Suryajeet Ahlawat and Capt Lanka Kiran Kumar while Brig. Mridul Sharma was in attendance.
