CUET (UG) 2024 conducted across 5 centres in district
Ludhiana: The National Testing Agency (NTA) kicked off the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for undergraduates on Wednesday. The exam was held across five centres of the district. A total of 2,782 candidates had registered to appear for the exam at the five centres, which include BCM Arya Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar; Nankana Sahib Public School, Gill Road; Atam Devki Niketan Kidwai Nagar; Bal Bharti Public School, Dugri; Bhartiya Vidya Mandir School, Udham Singh Nagar. The exams were held in four shifts- Chemistry from 10am to 11am, biology from 12:15 pm to 1pm, English from 3pm to 3:45pm and general test from 5pm to 6pm. Nitish, who appeared for the test at BVM, Udham Singh Nagar, said, “ I appeared for chemistry and English papers. The exam was quite easy. The questions were mainly NCERT-based.”Another aspirant Tanvi Sethi, who wishes to pursue bachelors in business administration (finance) from Delhi University, said , “I appeared for the English and general test and the exam was of moderate level. We had to attempt 40 out of 50 questions in 45 minutes for English . In the general test, which comprised logical reasoning, quantitative aptitude and general knowledge, we had to attempt 50 out of 60 questions in an hour. I was able to attempt all the questions in time. English was easier as compared to the general test.”Anuja Kaushal, principal of BCM Arya School, said, “ Around 620 students appeared in different shifts. Fewer candidates took tghe biology exam.”NTA city coordinator Paramjeet Kaur said, “The exam was held smoothly in all centres of the district. All necessary arrangements were made for students. Jammers were also installed at all centres.”This year, the CUET UG is being held in hybrid mode with 15 subjects in pen and paper mode and 48 subjects in computer based-mode. The offline examination (pen and paper mode) is scheduled till May 18 while the computer-based exam will be held on May 21, 22 and 24. The results for CUET-UG 2024 will be announced on June 30. The test duration for accountancy, economics, physics, computer science, informatics practices, chemistry, mathematics , applied mathematics, and general test is one hour while for the remaining subjects it is 45 minutes.Notably, CUET UG serves as a common screening test which leads to admission to undergraduate courses offered by central universities and other participating institutions.
