LUDHIANA: A woman and her one-and-a-half-year-old son were killed when a car ploughed into them in a slum area near Ramgarh police post on Friday morning.
Police said Vinod Kumar, a labourer, his wife Suneeta and their son Bittu were sleeping on the roadside when the rashly-driven car ran over them. While Suneeta and Bittu died on the spot, Vinod received injuries.
He was taken to a hospital and discharged later in the day. Police have arrested the driver — Ankit, a resident of Kangra in Himachal Pradesh.
He has been booked for causing death due to rash and negligent driving, besides under other sections of the IPC. Police said the accused was going from Jalandhar to Chandigarh when the accident took place.
