ASI killed, cops suspect hit-&-run

Ludhiana: An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) was killed allegedly in a hit-&-run incident near Gurdwara Bhora Sahib on Kishanpura road. The deceased was identified as Jarnail Singh.
Sidhwan Bet police have booked an unidentified person for causing death due to negligence.
Cops said ASI Jarnail Singh was going to Sidhwan Bet on a motorcycle for some work. They added that near the gurdwara, his motorcycle met with an accident.
Cops said another ASI was on his way back home, when he saw Jarnail Singh lying on the road in a seriously injured condition. His motorcycle was lying on the road near the spot. ASI Jarnail was rushed to Jagraon civil hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
Police officials, quoting the doctors, said the victim had suffered serious injuries in the head, which proved fatal.
Sub-inspector Karamjit Singh, SHO, Sidhwan Bet police station, said an indicator light of another vehicle was lying on the spot which suggested that Jarnail’s bike may have been hit by a vehicle. He said they have registered a case of causing death due to negligence against unidentified accused and are investigating the matter.
