According to the data collected from the Haryana Pollution Control Board centre at sector-12, the overall air quality index of Karnal was recorded at 298 on Tuesday, which falls in the poor category.

. Due to changing weather and pollution, number of patients admitted to OPD in the district general hospital was about 1,400. Five days ago, it was around 1,200.

An Air Quality Index between 0 and 50 is considered "good", 51 and 100 "satisfactory", 101 and 200 "moderate", 201 and 300 "poor", 301 and 400 "very poor", and 401 and 500 "severe".

Dr. Sanjeev Grover, physician in the Civil Hospital Karnal, said the climate has changed suddenly affecting people's health. Number of patients with complaints of vomiting, diarrhea, asthma and fever has also increased.
