Ludhiana: Relief is on the horizon for city's residents who are enduring an unseasonably warm March, with the meteorological department issuing a "yellow alert" for severe weather disturbances beginning from Sunday.The city has been gripped by temperatures significantly above seasonal norms. On Friday, daytime highs reached 31°C — more than 4°C above the average — while night temperatures hovered at a balmy 18.6°C, a staggering 6°C higher than normal. The heat has forced residents to consider early use of air conditioning, a rarity for this point in the year. A local businessman, Kuldeep Singh, said: "I have not seen such hot conditions during March in many years. Whenever I go out, the thirst is constant." However, the meteorological department predicts a sharp shift. A yellow alert has been issued for Sunday and Monday, warning of thunderstorms accompanied by hailstorms and strong surface winds.
