Addict arrested for murder of differently abled man

Ludhiana: Ludhiana rural police has arrested an alleged drug addict for the murder of a differently abled man in Kothe Rahlan village in Jagraon and has recovered the mobile phone of the deceased from him. The accused was identified as Amandeep Singh Deepu (23).On Tuesday morning, Jaswinder Singh Jassi, who owned a grocery store in Kothe Rahlan village, was found murdered in his house at the village.

Addressing mediapersons at Jagraon on Wednesday, SSP (Ludhiana rural) Navneet Singh Bains said to solve the blind murder case, they had constituted teams under SP (detective) Harinderpal Singh Parmar and DSP Satwinder Singh Virk. He said a team under City Jagraon police station DSP Deepkaran Singh Toor succeeded in arresting the accused within six hours of the crime. In her statement, Jassi’s mother Pritam Kaur of Bhanohat in Mullanpur said he had been living alone in Kothe Rahlan for the four years. He had married twice, but had divorced both wives.On Tuesday, she found the body of Jassi lying near the bed and he was possibly strangulated to death with a belt and his new phone was missing from the spot.Police officials said during the investigation, around 10 people in the village were detained for questioning. Out of these, Amandeep Singh, who lived in the neighborhood of Jaswinder, was arrested and interrogated and he confessed to the crime.Cops said the accused informed he broke open the main gate of his house at night to steal Jaswinder Singh’s mobile phone. When he was about to pick up the mobile phone, Jaswinder woke up and started fighting with him. He then used the belt around his neck and strangulated him.
