LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) on Thursday constituted a nine-member committee headed by a DIG-rank officer to monitor the ongoing probe in the

told TOI, “A nine-member committee headed by a DIG-rank officer has been formed to ensure an impartial and transparent probe into the Lakhimpur Kheri incident.”

The committee headed by DIG (headquarters) Upendra Agrawal also includes

Commandant

, 10th Battalion, PAC, Sunil

Kumar Singh

, Additional SP (Kheri) Arun Kumar Singh, two police circle officers, three inspectors and one sub-inspector as members.

The committee will have the mandate to monitor the probe in both the FIRs registered in the case on October 4,

added.

“I sincerely hope that the committee will ensure probity and help expedite the probe as soon as possible,” the DGP said.

told TOI, “The ambit of this case has turned vast hence the monitoring committee has been constituted.”

Initially, an ASP-rank officer posted in the district was supervising the probe but now this monitoring committee will oversee the probe, the IG said.
