2 teen girls killed in road accident in Rae Bareli; 4 hurt
Lucknow: A road accident in Rae Bareli left two teenage girls dead and four others injured on Sunday evening. The incident occurred on the Rae Bareli-Sultanpur highway near Malin ka Purwa village when a car, attempting to overtake a bus, collided head-on with an oncoming truck. The impact of the collision severely damaged the car.Local residents and police rushed to the scene to rescue the victims. The injured were rushed to the district hospital. Among the victims, Kavya Singh (15) from Kitiyawa village in Amethi district and Sakshi Singh (15) from Lakhara village in Pratapgarh district were declared dead on arrival, the police said.The injured included Dhanya Singh (15), Harihar Singh (52), Kiran Singh (15) and Anuj Singh, all of whom are undergoing treatment. Police seized the truck and detained its driver."The girls, both Class 10 students, were traveling with their families after attending a wedding in Lucknow. The sudden loss has plunged their families into grief, shattering their joy into sorrow," said Rakesh Singh, SHO, Mill Area, police station. Police said a case was going to be registered following a formal complaint.
