LUCKNOW: An unidentified miscreant attempted to cheat a man of Rs 25,000 while chatting with him on WhatsApp which had status of chief secretary Durga Shanker Mishra. The victim has lodged a case with the Cyber Crime police.

In his FIR, Pramod Singh of Mayur Residency, Indira Nagar, said that an unidentified man sent him WhatsApp message on his mobile phone and started chatting with him. “I replied to the messages. A little later he asked me to transfer Rs 25,000 to a bank account details of which he sent to me later. I refused to pay the money and blacklisted him,” he said.

Superintendent of UP Cyber Cell, Triveni Singh, said that an FIR under the charges of dishonesty, IT Act has been lodged and a probe is underway.

“We are also trying to find out if the miscreant also duped other innocent people,” he said.
