on Thursday recommended the elevation of

Justice Sanjay Yadav

as the

Chief Justice

of Allahabad High Court. Justice Sanjay Yadav has been serving as the Acting Chief Justice of

Allahabad High Court

since April 14, 2021, after former Chief Justice, Govind Mathur demitted the office.

As per statement dated May 20, 2021, issued by the Supreme Court Collegium, Justice Sanjay Yadav is recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium to be elevated as the Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court. Born on June 26, 1959, Justice Sanjay Yadav was earlier enrolled as advocate on August 25, 1986 and practised on civil, revenue and constitutional side in the High Court of Madhya Pradesh at Jabalpur. He also worked as Deputy Advocate General of Madhya Pradesh.

Subsequently, he was elevated as judge of the

Madhya Pradesh High Court

on March 2, 2007 and permanent judge on January 15, 2010. Later, he was appointed as Acting Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court. He was transferred to

Allahabad HC

on January 8, 2021.
