Public to be part of 12 yrs of Modi govt celebrations: CM

Lucknow: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday said that programmes marking 12 years of central govt under PM Narendra Modi — from World Environment Day to International Yoga Day — be turned into a mass public participation and awareness campaign, rather than remaining formal events. He said that at least five crore saplings be planted on June 5 under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ (A Tree in Mother’s Name) campaign.

At a high-level meeting on Wednesday evening via video conferencing, Yogi assessed the state’s law and order situation, preparations for the upcoming Civil Police Constable recruitment examination, and arrangements for the public-participation-based programmes.

The CM emphasised that, in order to transform environmental conservation into a mass movement, efforts should be directed towards the goal of making every gram panchayat and urban local body ‘Single-Use Plastic Free’.

He said the period from June 5-21 presents a significant opportunity to convey the resolve for ‘Viksit Bharat’ and ‘Viksit Uttar Pradesh’ to every citizen. Under the guidance of ministers-in-charge and elected representatives, dialogues should be established with the intellectual class, academicians, doctors, engineers, industrialists, lawyers, young entrepreneurs, and startup innovators of society.

He directed that, during this period, sanitation be conducted as a special public campaign, and that officials themselves participate in it to inspire the community. He said that, through the public welfare camps and health fairs scheduled to be held at the block level from June 14 to 16.

He directed that ‘Night Chaupals’ be organised in rural areas to establish an effective mechanism for resolving public grievances, reviewing schemes, and addressing complaints.

The recruitment exam for civil police constables and equivalent posts will be held from June 8-10 in which around 29 lakh candidates will appear.

The Director General of the Police Recruitment and Promotion Board presented detailed information regarding the secure transportation of question papers, security arrangements at examination centres, surveillance mechanism, and other necessary logistical arrangements.

The CM issued directives to ensure that the integrity, fairness, and confidentiality of the recruitment examination are not compromised at any stage. Noting that a large number of candidates would appear for the exams, he instructed that an effective traffic management plan be formulated to ensure that the general public does not face any unnecessary inconvenience.

The CM underscored the critical role played by Sector Magistrates, Static Magistrates, and Centre Superintendents, urging all officials to discharge their duties with utmost vigilance and responsibility. He also directed that a full rehearsal for the examination be conducted on June 6.

He issued clear directives that not a single candidate should be made to stand in the scorching sun, and that all essential basic amenities must be made available at the examination centres. For the convenience of the candidates, the transport department should operate special inter-district buses at concessional fares. Furthermore, an uninterrupted power supply must be ensured at all examination centres.
