NSA slapped on man who strangled mobile delivery boy
Lucknow: Police on Wednesday invoked the National Security Act (NSA) against Gajanand Dubey, the main accused in the kidnapping and murder case of delivery executive of e-commerce site Bharat Kumar, 27.Kumar was murdered in Chinhat area in September.A statement from the Lucknow police claimed that the action was taken after sufficient evidence was found against Dubey, following the filing of a chargesheet in the court."Considering the seriousness of the incident caused by the accused, all evidence of disruption of public order due to the incident was successfully collected, and section 3 (2) of the NSA 1980 was approved by the district magistrate," said ADCP Pankaj Singh. "Dubey, lodged in the District Jail Barabanki, was served the notice for detention through the jail superintendent Barabanki, on Wednesday," said Singh.To recall, Deceased's brother, Prem Kumar, and executive of delivery partner company had registered a missing person report on Sep 25 regarding the disappearance of Bharat.The investigation later revealed that accused Dubey had booked mobiles through the e-commerce app, which were brought by the delivery boy Bharat to the location mentioned by the accused. The accused, along with his friend, kidnapped the delivery boy with the intention of looting and brutally murdered him in broad daylight in their rented house by strangling him with the wire of a laptop charger. The body of the delivery boy was stuffed in his own Instacart bag and thrown into the Indira canal, said police.
