Lucknow: With the one-month extension given to the officiating chairperson of Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission Sunil Kumar Jain coming to an end on March 10, UPPSC has once again become headless. Appointed on November 7 for a period of three months, Jain's term ended in February. With no appointment of a full-time chairperson by the state government, Governor
Ram Naik
extended his term by another month. The post has been vacant since Anil Yadav was removed on the order of the high court.
Sources said that the state government has neither sent a recommendation for full-time appointment nor for Jain's second extension as officiating chairperson of UPPSC.
Earlier, in an embarrassment to the UP government, the high court had, on October 14, quashed the appointment of Anil Yadav as chairperson of UPPSC, holding it as 'illegal' and had rapped the state government for having 'breached its constitutional duty' by appointing him without carrying out a proper inquiry with regard to his 'integrity and competence'.
