House raided in PAC Road on gambling tip

kanpur: the chakery police under the supervision of sp, south, rakesh pradhan raided the house of an independent corporator's husband in pac road area. according to information, the city police raided the house of a former lottery trader gopal gupta on the tip of an informer and detained around seven people when they were busy in gambling. the police also recovered around rs 10,000 from the gambling table.on the tip of an informer, the chakery police raided the house of gopal gupta, husband of a corporator at pac road. gopal gupta has influence in pac road area and allegedly also has a hand in money extortion of pac road traders. traders of the area said they could not muster enough courage to register written complaints on money extortion due to the panic prevailing in the area because of gopal gupta. according to information, the matter was sorted out after the intervention of a local mla and the police agreed to release the gamblers. interestingly, in this whole incident, the wife of the lottery trader and corporator shakuntala gupta refused to attend her husband. the police informed that about a month ago gopal gupta was detained by the police for an instance of rioting in the area. * in another incident, avadh narayan shukla and around one dozen miscreants beat the landlord surendra bhatia. the landlord was released, when the traders of sisamau market informed the police about the incident. according to the police, the police detained avadh bihari shukla and his nephew shailendra shukla and also recovered two maruti cars in which the miscreants arrived. the police lodged an fir against avadh bihari shukla and ten persons.
