BJP’s future poll strategy for UP to figure at RSS Kerala meet

Lucknow: BJP’s future poll strategy in UP will figure prominently in the RSS coordination meeting scheduled in Kerala from July 31 to August 2. The meeting, to be held in Palakkad district, is deemed significant in the wake of BJP’s poor showing in the Lok Sabha elections in UP, where its tally dropped from 62 to 33.
Sources said BJP president JP Nadda and national general secretary (organisation) BL Santhosh, who have been keeping an eye on political developments in UP, will also attend the meeting.
UP BJP will be represented by state general secretary (organisation) Dharam Pal Singh, who is responsible for overseeing various organisational activities while establishing close coordination with RSS.
Sources said the state brass is likely to put forth a detailed report vis-à-vis its action plan for the upcoming bypolls on 10 assembly seats and the 2027 state elections. Several senior RSS functionaries from UP will also attend the meeting and give inputs on the prevailing socio-political situation in the state.
Dharam Pal Singh has been camping in Delhi to take part in BJP’s organisational meeting convened by Santhosh, which is being seen as a prelude to the RSS meeting in Kerala.
The RSS coordination meeting comes close on the heels of party’s national brass holding exhaustive rounds of meetings with the UP BJP to iron out “internal discord” in the party after a veiled war of words between deputy CM Keshav Maurya and CM Yogi Adityanath over the election results in UP.
Meanwhile, Yogi and both the deputy CMs (Maurya and Brajesh Pathak) reached Delhi on Friday evening. Yogi, who is scheduled to attend the Niti Aayog governing council meeting on Saturday, is expected to meet senior BJP leaders, including PM Narendra Modi and Nadda. Yogi and his deputies are also scheduled to attend a meeting of CMs and deputy CMs of the BJP-ruled states the same day.
Keshav Prasad Maurya and UP BJP chief Bhupendra Chaudhary had met PM Modi, Union home minister Amit Shah, and Nadda in Delhi recently.
Sources said RSS has been treading cautiously in its bid to mitigate the ongoing crisis in UP. According to reports, many Sangh functionaries have been meeting senior BJP leaders to assess the situation in UP.
The RSS meeting is being held amid speculation about BJP making major organisational changes in UP ahead of the 2027 elections. Sources said Sangh has been gauging the situation minutely even as BJP plans to shore up organisational changes to take on an assertive opposition.
