BJP has to fight people also this time: Akhilesh

Lucknow: “BJP’s urge to change the Constitution has created a groundswell where not only political parties but people themselves have jumped into the poll fray and are voting. Braving the scorching summer sun, people are coming out to vote and oust the BJP from government,” said Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav.“BJP had deceived everyone. Poor farmers and jobless youths have been the worst hit. They promised to double the income of farmers, but it has been halved instead because of the rising cost of farming and fertilizers,” he said. “Neither did the youth get 2 crore jobs as promised. On the contrary, the BJP filled up the vacancies through outsourcing and contractual appointments where there is no provision for reservation. This is how they are inching closer to end reservation,” Akhilesh said.The former UP CM on Saturday addressed public meetings in Gorakhpur and Deoria and Kushinagar. In Gorakhpur, he addressed a joint rally of the INDIA bloc with Priyanka Gandhi and the two leaders sought votes for SP candidate Kajal Nishad. In Deoria, Akhilesh sought votes for INDIA bloc candidate from the Congress, Akhilesh Pratap Singh. In Kushinagar, the SP chief campaigned for party candidate Ajay Kumar Singh.Attacking the BJP in his public meetings, Akhilesh took a jibe at the saffron party over its “400 paar” slogan. He said BJP’s corruption has been exposed through Electoral Bonds where the party extorted heavy donations from corporates who in turn raised prices of commodities. “Eventually, these companies compensated for their donations by overcharging the people leading to price rise,” he said.“People of Purvanchal are known for their hospitality. If they welcome people with warmth, they give befitting farewells as well. Those who came here in 2014, will be sent back in 2024,” he said. Akhilesh cautioned people to beware of BJP’s attempts to influence the electorates. “If they (BJP) come to you, ask them why their party wants to change the Constitution of India to end reservation,” he said.“Every word and every promise of the BJP turned out to be false. Far from getting the facilities that should have been made available in a 10-year central and seven-year state government, the future of farmers and youth is in danger,” he said. Akhilesh said once the INDIA bloc government is formed at the Centre, a woman will get a monthly pension of Rs 8,500 and the poor will get 10 kilograms of ration every month.
