Ayodhya: Sibal, Dhawan to represent Muslim side

LUCKNOW: The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) and the Uttar Pradesh (UP) Sunni Central Waqf Board, representing the Muslim side in the Ramjanmbhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute, are both set to present their side in the Supreme Court (SC). The SC is set to start court proceedings from February 8 on the case in Delhi. The Sunni Waqf Board is the primary litigant in the title dispute.

Senior members of the board, members of the All-India

Babri Masjid Action Committee

and senior advocates to be representing the Muslim side in the Ayodhya dispute, have been holding continuous meetings that ran all day on Monday and will continue on February 6 and February 7.

Speaking to TOI from Delhi, convener of the Babri Masjid Action Committee Zafaryab

Jilani

, said, "Most of the documents pertaining to the case have been submitted and meetings are being held with all senior advocates. We are ready for all deliberations inside the courtroom, even for a day to day hearing situation if it arises."

A senior lawyer, Jilani will also represent the Muslim side in the Supreme Court.

Senior advocates Kapil Sibal, Rajeev Dhawan and

Raju Ramchandran

will be the advocates on record representing the Muslim side on behalf of AIMPLB. The UP Sunni Central Waqf Board will be represented by senior advocate Shakeel Ahmed Syed, confirmed board chairperson, Zufar Ahmad Farooqui.

There are eight parties in the disputed case.
