AIDWA fetes LU ex-VC and Subhashini Ali
Lucknow: Former vice chancellor of Lucknow University, Rooprekha Verma and former president of the All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) Subhashini Ali were felicitated for filing a petition in support of rape survivor Bilkis Bano during a programme organised by AIDWA at Udyan Bhawan, here on Saturday. A discussion was held on ‘Manuvadi attack on women and challenges ahead’ .“Contrary to arguments made by the right wing that the Vedic period was a golden age for women, the fact is that women have always been fighting for their rights,” said Verma. Ali said Manuvadi ideology supported casteism and inequality, unlike the Constitution of India, which assured equal rights for all regardless of class, caste, religion or gender. TNN
