Mayawati argues that the Uttar Pradesh government should promptly commence caste-based census while considering public sentiment. However, the ideal solution can only be achieved when the central government conducts a national-level caste-based census, ensuring their rightful rights.

On Tuesday, Mayawati posted three tweets in a row. She wrote, "News of the caste-based census conducted by the Bihar government is making headlines today, and in-depth discussions are underway on it. Some parties are uncomfortable with it, but for the BSP, this is the first step in the long struggle for the constitutional rights of the SC/ST community. The BSP is pleased that Indian politics is taking a new turn in favor of the marginalized 'Bahujan Samaj'."

Those who genuinely want to secure their rights undertake caste-based census: Akhilesh
Before this, Akhilesh Yadav had also demanded a caste-based census in Uttar Pradesh. He stated that the BJP government should put aside politics and conduct a nationwide caste-based census. He wrote on the social media platform 'X': "Caste-based census will not be a struggle between 85% and 15%, but it will open a new path of cooperation. Those who are not divisive but supporters of everyone's rights also welcome this. Those who genuinely want to secure their rights undertake caste-based census."
