9 years of building new UP

Over the past nine years, Uttar Pradesh has made significant strides in infrastructure, agriculture, power, IT, women’s empowerment, industry, health, education, and sports. From expanding expressways and airports to boosting agricultural output, promoting renewable energy, supporting women and self-employment, and improving health and education facilities, the state has transformed across multiple sectors between 2017 and 2026.
Expressways / Aviation

• 11 out of country's 111 waterways are in UP.

• State has 55% of total expressways in the country.

• State is 4th in Export Preparedness Index 2024, up from 7th in 2022.

• Operationalisation of Jewar International Airport.

• 17 airports, along with five International airports (including Jewar), functional.

• Expressways: 2 (2017) $\rightarrow$ 7 operational, 5 under devpt (2026).

• Air travellers: 59.97L (2017) $\rightarrow$ 14.23cr (2026).

• Road Improvement: 7,168 km (2017) $\rightarrow$ 30,898 km (2026).

Agriculture

• 76% of total land availability being used for agri purposes.

• Producing 4cr tons of fruits & vegetables.

• 86,128 solar pumps set up in state.

• 23,500 sq km in Bundelkhand under organic farming.

• 120 sugar mills operational where 10 lakh additional people got jobs.

• Area under sugarcane cultivation: 20.54L hectare (2017) $\rightarrow$ 28.61L hectare (2026).

• SGDP contribution: Rs 2.96L cr (2017) $\rightarrow$ Rs 6.95L cr (2026).

• Agricultural growth rate: 8% (2017) $\rightarrow$ 18% (2026).

Power

• UP ranks first under Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme for loss reduction.

• Focus on renewable energy through solar and green hydrogen policies.

• Production capacity increased to 32,259 MW.

• More than 2.51 cr households electrified under RDSS scheme.

• 57.17L households have smart meters.

• New Connections: 8.44L (2012-17) $\rightarrow$ 1.65 cr (2017-25).

• Distribution transformers: 13,04,475 (2012-17) $\rightarrow$ 27,91,844 (2017-25).

IT

• Two Software Tech Parks of India constructed; three more under construction.

• Meerut and Agra get new STPI.

• Gorakhpur, Bareilly and Varanasi to get STPIs soon.

• Increase of 1058% in electronics export in seven years.

• Employment in STPI and SEZ: 3,59,470 in 2024-25.

• Software Tech Parks: 4 (2017) $\rightarrow$ 6 (2026).

• Electronic export: Rs 3,862 cr (2017) $\rightarrow$ Rs 44,744 cr (2026).

Women & Child Devpt

• 26.81L beneficiaries under CM Kanya Sumangala Yojana.

• 36L women identified under Lakhpati Didi Yojana, 18.55L become Lakhpati Didi.

• 2,682 fair price shops given to women SHGs for operation.

• Women allowed to work night shifts in Industrial areas.

More than 1 cr women associated with SHGs.

Old Age Pension: Rs 300/month (2017) $\rightarrow$ Rs 1,000/month (2026).

Women labour participation: 13% (2017) $\rightarrow$ 36% (2026).

Industry & Employment
CM Yuva Udyami Vikas Yojana scheme started in 2024 to promote self-employment.

1,47,312 people self-employed through scheme.

197 MoUs for defence corridor.

Rs 20.75 cr distributed under Start-Up Policy.

First semiconductor unit for Rs 3,700 cr.

Export: Rs 86,000 cr (2017) $\rightarrow$ Rs 1.86L cr (2025).

Employment: 60L jobs created; 1.1 cr jobs expected with investment of Rs 50L cr.

Private/Govt Jobs: 15.96L selected for private jobs; More than 9L get govt jobs.

Medical & Health / Education / Sports

• 83 medical colleges operational in State.

• More than 31 nursing colleges under construction.

• 1.31 cr families covered under Ayushman Bharat health scheme.

• 1,025 Health ATMs in all districts.

Death rate: 0.91% (2017) $\rightarrow$ 0.03% (2026).

Education: Rs 1,200 each allocated for books, bags, uniform. 1.32L schools identified under Mission Kayakalp.

Sports: First sports university in country, Major Dhyan Chand Sports University, set up in Meerut.
