₹169cr granted for library, schools, amenities
Lucknow: Civic development projects worth Rs 169 crore were approved by Lucknow Municipal Corporation at a meeting chaired by mayor Sushma Kharkwal at the Smart City office on Tuesday. The amount has been sanctioned by the 15th Finance Commission as ‘infrastructure funds'. Officials said the civic body has received Rs 169.4 crore, including Rs 99.1 crore for new projects.
A modern library proposed to be set up at a cost of Rs 12 crore in Jankipuram Sector F near Engineering College will have separate sections for children, senior citizens and students preparing for competitive examinations. It will also include a public reading area and provision for a bank branch.
The civic body also approved Rs 50 crore for road and drainage work, Rs 20 crore for construction of municipal schools and another Rs 20 crore for community centres, welfare halls and Utsav Vatika facilities. About Rs 10 crore was sanctioned for a new central workshop and RR office in Sarvodaya Nagar.
For beautification, Rs 12 crore will be spent on parks, including Laxman Park and Shaheed Park. Separate allocations of Rs 10 crore each were made for vending zones and development of parking, beautification and sports facilities under flyovers.
