Lucknow: After the consecration ceremony, Ayodhya will be lit up with 10 lakh diyas in the evening while a ‘Ram Jyoti’ will be lit at all homes, shops, religious places and other sites.
“While Diwali is celebrated to mark the return of Lord Ram from exile, the consecration will mark the return of Lord Ram to Ayodhya and celebrated as Deepotsav,” a government spokesperson said.
“Since assuming power in 2017, the Yogi Adityanath government has been organising Deepotsav annually. In 2017, the government adorned Ayodhya with 1.71 lakh diyas while in 2023, a new record was set with 22.23 lakh diyas,” the official said.
Regional tourism officer RP Yadav said on the evening of Jan 22, diyas will be lit at 100 prominent temples and public places. tnn
