KOTTAYAM: The chargehseet in the
Kerala nun rape case
against former
Jalandhar Bishop Franco Mulakkal
was filed before the judicial first class magistrate court in Pala in Kerala on Tuesday afternoon.
The probe team, led by investigation officer Vaikom Dy SP K Subhash, submitted the
chargesheet
in the court.
There are a total 83 witnesses in the case including Major Archbishop Cardinal George Alencherry, Bishop Joseph Kallarangatt of Pala diocese, Bhagalpur Bishop Kurian Valiyakandathil and Bishop Sebastian Vadakkel of the diocese of Ujjain. As many as 25 nuns and 11 priests are also among the witnesses.
Bishop Franco faces charges under sections 342, 376(2)(K), 376(2)(N), 376 (c)(a), 377, 506(1) of Indian Penal Code. If the charges are proved, the bishop faces a life imprisonment or a minimum imprisonment of not less than ten years.
