Women devotees lead holy march on Shrawan Somvar in Kolkata
In a notable shift within a traditionally male-dominated practice, the city of Kolkata witnessed a remarkable sight as women devotees marched towards the temple for worship during the holy month of Shrawan Somvar.
On this auspicious Monday, an exclusive arrangement was organized for women devotees, led by Priyadarshini Hakim, general secretary of the WB Mahila Trinamool Congress. The procession commenced from Chetla Park and proceeded to the ancient Bhu Kailash Shiv Temple in Kidderpore.
The event saw over 500 women participating in the holy walk. The organizers ensured comprehensive arrangements, including sarees and kalash for the devotees, ambulances for any emergencies, and refreshments to help those fasting.
