West Bengal CM Suvendu in Delhi to ‘discuss portfolios’
KOLKATA: West Bengal CM Suvendu Adhikari made an unscheduled trip to Delhi on Friday and met BJP’s central leadership, the trip coming close on the heels of the state cabinet expansion.
Sources said Adhikari met BJP president Nitin Nabin and national general secretary Sunil Bansal. “They discussed the allocation of portfolios. A few other political issues also came up during the meeting that lasted more than two hours,” a source said. The CM, who currently holds heavyweight portfolios such as home, hill affairs, finance and health, is said to be seeking structural adjustments to distribute the administrative workload.
A source said the objective of CM’s visit was to expedite the implementation of various central schemes in Bengal.
