Kolkata to Punjab: The road trip of two Air India jets

KOLKATA: Two scrapped Air India aircraft shells left Kolkata airport on tractor trailers for Punjab along Jessore Road, Belgharia Expressway and Durgapur Expressway early on Sunday.

The two Airbus A319 planes are part of the five retired passenger aircraft that were sold as scrap by Air India recently. After one of the five retired planes was involved in a fracas during the transportation to Amritsar last month, the transport agency took the nod from PWD and then, chose smaller trailers for better navigation.

Two more scrapped aircraft will be transported out of the airport this month
