Kharagpur: The railways on Tuesday asked Tushar Kanti Ghosh, a former member of the Passenger Services Committee who was allotted a 230-square metre railway bungalow in Kharagpur until March 2020, to vacate it or face eviction. The bungalow is now being used by BJP ex-MP Dilip Ghosh.The eviction notice, issued five years after the allotment lapsed, came after Trinamool flagged allegations that Dilip was occupying a railway bungalow illegally when he was neither an MP nor an MLA.A two-page notice was posted on the bungalow's wall on Wednesday. The bungalow has outstanding electricity and other expenses. The notice, issued by the Southeastern Railway Kharagpur Estate Officer, asked original allottee Tushar Kanti to explain his stand by April 17 and appear in person before the Kharagpur Division's Estate Officer by April 21.The issue started after TMC's district vice president, Debashish Choudhury, filed a plea under Right to Information Act on March 24 to find out in whose name the bungalow was allocated. The railways responded on April 3, stating currently it was not allocated to anyone. Until March 2020, the bungalow was allocated to Tushar Kanti Ghosh, a former member of the Passenger Services Committee, it added.Sharing the response on social media, TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh wrote: "The information states the user's term ended in 2020. How is Dilip Ghosh using it five years later? Who is occupying it? Why is it being used without approval?"Dilip responded on social media, blaming Trinamool for occupying railway land illegally. He said: "Not only in Birbhum and Sandeshkhali, where Trinamool has set up party offices on govt land, but in Kharagpur too, Trinamool leaders have built large buildings on railway land, installed ACs and established permanent occupancy. From parks to community halls, what isn't there? Did Trinamool acquire these places legally from the railways? Did the railways give them this land?"Kunal said: "The railways did the right thing. When we spoke about it (illegal occupation), Dilip Ghosh abused us publicly.
