Kolkata: Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, Union minister of state for education and external affairs, on Friday emphasised the need for increased connectivity among the northeast and the neighbouring states. It will lead to more business through improved cooperation, he added.
Speaking at the AGM of the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC), Singh said that India will utilise Chittagong and Mongla ports of Bangladesh to their full potential as northeastern states had been landlocked. With improved connectivity, the Bay of Bengal is accessible to the NE states now. The minister appreciated the Centre's policy on ‘Look East and Act East’ which means enhanced trade.
Gen (retd) V K Singh, MoS for road transport, highways and civil aviation ministry, stressed the need for quality control and quality upgradation for a developed India and exemplified how Japan had reached the top even after being ravaged during the World War II.
