Nabin meets Bengal BJP MPs, fine-tunes poll strategy

Kolkata: Within a week of his two-day Bengal tour, BJP national president Nitin Nabin met the party's Bengal MPs on Tuesday night.The meeting, which lasted for nearly two hours at the New Delhi residence of Union minister Sukanta Majumdar, was crucial to fine-tune campaigns, a BJP source said. For the first time, Harshvardhan Shringla, BJP's Rajya Sabha MP, was also invited to the meeting of Bengal lawmakers.
The meeting took place at a time when CM Mamata Banerjee has upped the ante against BJP and the Election Commission of India on the streets of Delhi."She has come to Delhi and her intentions are not clear as yet. She has claimed that her visit is intended to raise voice against the ongoing SIR. But Trinamool has been peddling lies among people since the process started," Majumdar said earlier on Tuesday.During his last visit, Union home minister Amit Shah had specifically spoken about strengthening booths. In his discussions with state netas, Shah said rallies and campaigns were part of the process but that would not win an election.Nabin, who had flown down to Bengal immediately after being appointed party president, had chosen to address the areas, including West Burdwan, Asansol and Durgapur, where the party had started to lose its grip.Shringla, who has deep roots in Darjeeling, has worked extensively in the Hills through his organization, the Darjeeling Welfare Society. With the BJP brass eager to put up a united force before the campaign, Nabin took stock of the preparedness.
