Min rises to 23°C, 1st time since Nov

Kolkata: The minimum temperature in Kolkata increased by 3 degrees to 23°C on Sunday. The maximum temperature at 32.2°C decreased slightly. It is the first time that the minimum temperature touched 23°C since Nov.
The flow of westerly winds into south Bengal led to the increase in temperature, said weathermen. "There is slight moisture at the ground level. It is not sufficient to bring rainfall, though. The city is set to remain dry for the next four to five days," said HR Biswas, deputy director-general of meteorology.North Bengal, however, may get rainfall over the next few days.The cooler north-westerly winds have been replaced by the warmer and dry winds. Thus, it will get gradually warm in the days to come, said the Met office. The minimum temperature will hover around 23°C in the next 48 hours. "But there will not be any sharp rise as of now," added Biswas.Kolkata received drizzles last week under the impact of southerly winds blowing in from the sea, carrying moisture. The twin effect of rising mercury and the moisture incursion led to cloud formation and rain.
