It was a laughter marathon when several city-based stand-up comedians enthralled the audience with their acts at the

Calcutta Comedy Carnival

recently. It was one of the first stand-up comedy carnivals organised at a city gallery by 17-year-old Anish Kayal of Kalkutta Komedians. The carnival spanned over two days and also had a photo booth and a food stall named

Huko Muko Hyangla

by Chandroday Pal that served burgers, cupcakes and beverages.

The first day of the carnival was hosted by

Raouf Gangjee

, the founder of Kalkutta Komedians. He spoke about himself being half German living in Kolkata. The highlights from the first day were Chandroday’s performance where he spoke about being a fat middle-class Bengali with a lot of opinions on different subjects. Anish spoke about weird things his dad has done for the 17 years he spent growing up at home. And Abhinav Tewary spoke about how savage people are in this city. The show was closed by the very funny

Brijesh Jha

making hilarious observations about snakes and Shaktimaan.
Day Two was hosted by

Ritabrata Dass

, who narrated funny stories about his life. Apart from him, Rivu Ganguly spoke about how lazy he is and why he hates cricket. Comedians Varun Luthra and Prajwal Raj also performed on the second day of the carnival.
