With hardly any time left for the first major pujas of this year, the organizers feel they are being “needlessly” made to run around from one department to another in these

Covid

times to get the necessary clearances.

According to Gopi Thakker of Ganapati Bhakt Mandal at Bhowanipore and Manoj Jha who is organizing puja at a condo in the city’s south-western tip, they are being forced to run around despite holding pujas for over a decade. “We have been holding Ganesh Puja for the last 10 years. I had personally written letters to various authorities to give us the single window facility but they have refused,” said Thakker.

Police said that such cases are rare. “We do have a list of organizers. We will not comment on any single puja. But for the past few years with the proliferation of Ganesh Pujas, and the unfortunate deaths a couple of years ago, we have become stricter. Genuine organizers have never complained as we are always ready to cooperate,” said a senior cop of KP’s south division
