HIV+woman rescued from Crooked Lane

Kolkata: A young mentally challenged woman who was rescued from a central Kolkata address after she was found loitering in the street by locals who called 100, is suffering from HIV. The woman was found in a dishevelled state at Crooked Lane under Hare Street PS. Cops have not ruled out the possibility that she might have been driven out of her residence or be a victim of physical abuse. She has been kept at Pavlov for further treatment after taking permission from the court, cops said.Cops said they are trying to ascertain her identity. Besides taking help of social media, cops have approached doctors and special instructors who can try and communicate with her. “She is extremely weak. Doctors have told us they need to stabilize her health first. The NGO who rescued her after getting an SOS from police is also helping us,” said a central division cop. TNN

Woman cop alleges in-laws pressuring her to quit job

A woman constable in Rajkot has filed a complaint against her in-laws, including her brother-in-law who is also a policeman, accusing them of domestic violence. The constable alleged that she was mentally tortured and harassed by her husband and other family members, and was forced to resign from her job. She also claimed that she paid her husband's credit card dues and he borrowed money against her gold ornaments. The police have registered a case and an investigation is underway.
