'Bundled into a car, taken to Kharagpur': Kolkata director Srikanta abducted during music video shoot; rescued

KOLKATA: A film and video director, Srikanta, also known as Prince, was abducted from Mandarmani during a music video shoot on Thursday evening. He was rescued from Kharagpur's Talbagicha, close to IIT on Friday morning.

Five persons were involved, two of them from Durgapur, said police. But no one has yet been arrested. East Midnapore cops claimed to receive a message from Srikanta, saying one of his producers was involved and that this was a fallout of an old financial dispute.

"We were wrapping up our shoot on Purushottampur Red Crab Beach on Friday when someone came up to me and asked if we were shooting. As I replied in affirmation, I was bundled into a car and taken to Kharagpur. I was told to sit quietly and that I would be released in half an hour," Srikanta told reporters. A witness claimed two of the accused had firearms.
