Kolkata: Several vehicles, including a police vehicle fitted with a blue beacon, an SUV and a luxury bus, were allegedly vandalised by a group of armed miscreants in Sodepur around 4.30 am on Sunday morning. Police are examining CCTV footage to identify and capture the attackers.
Witnesses said the goons arrived in an auto and entered Peerless Nagar housing complex. They allegedly targeted the car of Panihati Municipality ward 2 councillor Swapan Das. The attackers reportedly used a chair and a bicycle to damage the car. "They also damaged a luxury bus belonging to my brother," said Das. He lodged a complaint at Khardah Police Station.
At the same time, three miscreants travelling in another auto allegedly struck near Shivaji Sangha ground on Raja Road, where a police vehicle with a blue beacon was parked. "The miscreants smashed the windscreen and attacked it with sticks and iron rods," said Manju Pal, a local.
