Kolhapur: Two men from Ingali village, in Kolhapur's Hupari tehsil, were electrocuted on Wednesday while washing cattle at a cattle shed owned by farmer Dhanaji Khemlapure.
The deceased have been identified as Bhagwan Sonawane, 65, and Dhiraj Naik, 28. Police said they were washing the cattle using a water spray gun, typically used in automobile servicing centres.
The water gun was electricity-operated. The current passed through the water gun, and Naik was electrocuted first. Sonawane rushed to save him, but came in contact with Naik and died.
A case of accidental death was registered at the Hupari police station.
