KOLHAPUR: The
Indian coast guard (western region) is gearing up for the upcoming monsoon season and accordingly a team of
coast guard
visited
Kolhapur airport
via Dornier aircraft to coordinate and evaluate facilities in the district, coordinate with various airspace on the west coast under the
UDAN scheme, to enhance the reach of search and rescue operations (SAR).
Kamal Kumar Kataria, airport director for Kolhapur said, "A meeting was held with the director of airports, Airports Authority of India, Kolhapur airport team and officials of Indian coast guard Air station Daman, in which they found that all services/facilities like ANS, ATM/ATS, runway, taxiway, apron, refueling facility, MET Facilities, E&M services and all other services were found to be available at Kolhapur airport to withstand the coming monsoon."
"The Indian coast guard has expressed satisfaction over the services available at Kolhapur airport. The Kolhapur airport, which is being developed under the guidance of guardian minister Satej Patil, is fully capable of handling any difficult situation in the coming monsoons" added Kataria.
