Six shops in Tembhurni's market gutted in fire

Kolhapur: Six shops selling electrical items, hardware and furniture on Karmala road of Tembhurni village in Madha tehsil of Solapur district were gutted in fire on Tuesday night. There were no casualties.

An electrical short circuit started the fire. The smoke started coming out of one of the shops at 7pm. But after an hour, the fire spread and engulfed the neighbouring shops.

“There was a lot of damage done to each of the shops. The estimate of losses is still being worked out,” said the police.

Fire tenders from sugar mills in MIDC areas were called immediately to douse the fire. The fire was doused by midnight.

NCP (SP) MLA Abhijeet Patil rushed to the spot and arranged for water tankers and fire tenders.
