Shinde starts ZP campaign in Satara, says Ladki instalment to be increased to Rs 2,100 at appropriate time
Kolhapur: Deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde kickstarted Shiv Sena's campaign for zilla parishad polls from his home district Satara, and in the first two rallies he has held so far, one on Monday and another on Tuesday, he promised that the monthly instalment of the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana will be increased from Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,100 at an appropriate time.He said the Ladki Bahin scheme gave Mahayuti a tremendous mandate of 232 seats in the assembly election and claimed that the scheme, aimed at women, helped Mahayuti in municipal council and corporation elections. Shinde said he started the scheme when he was CM, only to prevent women from going through the situation his mother and wife went through."The idea came to my mind since I saw my mother's pain in running the household, and I saw my wife's struggles while managing the monthly expenses. Therefore, I assure you that the scheme will never stop. The opposition keeps reminding us of the promise we made. Yes, at an appropriate time, we are going to increase the monthly instalment from Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,100," said Shinde at both Taldeo near Mahabaleshwar and Kelghar near Medha in Satara district. At the Taldeo rally, Shinde said he decided to oust the Uddhav Thackeray-led govt from power after 50 MLAs stepped out and joined him in the rebellion. "The moment will be recorded in the history books in golden words. Not just India, countries across the globe took note of Eknath Shinde's daring step," said Shinde.Shinde said Shiv Sena won 28 seats in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation election in its debut attempt and ended the decades-old rule of Thackeray in BMC.The weekly cabinet meeting of state govt was held on Tuesday. Shinde skipped the meeting. According to Shiv Sena politicians, Shinde has lined up his campaign rallies until Feb 2. Voting for the ZP election is on Feb 5. On Wednesday, Shinde will address a rally in Solapur.
