Ganja worth 5.6L seized, two arrested

Kolhapur: The city police seized 28kg of ganja worth Rs5.65 lakh and arrested two people from Dhule and Man tehsil in Satara district, respectively, on Thursday.
Local crime branch officers laid a trap upon receiving a tip-off that the two suspects were arriving near the Rajaram Lake premises along the old Pune-Bengaluru national highway. They detained the two, along with ganja in their possession.
The police said, Nihal Iqbal Sheikh (27) is from Dhule's Shirpur district and Charan Lalasaheb Shinde (32) hails from Man tehsil. They came to sell ganja to customers in Kolhapur and Belgavi. Both accused have earlier charges in their name in police stations, for selling ganja. The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 prohibits its possession, consumption, sale.
