Kolhapur: Kmc announces 80 percent rebate on property tax penalties and water bill late feesThe civic body has announced an 80% rebate on property tax penalties and water bill late fees if defaulters pay their entire outstanding amounts, including the current bill, in a lump sum. The rebate scheme remains valid from March 26 to 31, and all Citizen Facilitation Centers will be open even on holidays from March 28 to 31, 2026.The Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC) said the rebate applied to both residential and non-residential properties for payments made between March 26 and 31, 2026, in accordance with a resolution passed by the general body, directives from mayor Rouparani Nikam, and with the approval of municipal commissioner K Manjulekshmi.Property owners whose taxes for the current financial year remained unpaid and became overdue within the current fiscal period are also eligible to avail themselves of the benefits offered under the scheme.KMC public relations officer Mohan Suryawanshi said, "To avoid unpleasant consequences, such as a 2% penalty on outstanding dues, property seizure, or the recording of a lien on assets, as stipulated under the Maharashtra Municipal Corporations Act, residents are urged to pay their tax dues as soon as possible and avail themselves of this concession scheme. All civic amenities centres will remain open even on holidays from March 28 to 31. The facility to pay the amount online is available on the municipal corporation's website https://web.kolhapurcorporation.gov.in/ and on the Android mobile app."
