HC rejects bail application moved by a woman suspected of Bangladeshi origin
Kolhapur: Bombay HC's Kolhapur court rejected a bail application of a woman arrested in Jan last year under various sections of BNS, Passport (Entry into India) Rule, 1950, Foreigners Order 1948 and Foreigner Citizens Act for illegally staying in India. She is suspected to be a Bangladeshi. The woman was staying at a two storied building in Barshi city of Solapur.
The police claimed that the woman had entered India illegally without any valid travel documents. Police had recovered Rs 1.4 lakh in cash and mobile phones from her. The woman was booked under sections 318(4), 336(3), 338, 3(5) of BNS, under Sections 3(a), 6(a) of Passport (Entry into India) Rule, 1950, under Section 3(1) of Foreigners Order, 1948, under Section 14 of Foreigner Citizens Act, 1946.When the raid was conducted, the woman, Sathi Rubel Khan, alias Rehana Begum, was found along with voter identity card and Aadhaar card. It was found that both identity cards were of different people. The central govt has been requested to verify the documents."The central govt is verifying the documents, including Aadhaar card. No case is made out as the accused herself signed the document as Rehana Begum. Therefore, no case is made out to release the applicant on bail," stated the order passed by justice Vrushali Joshi while rejecting the bail application on Feb 26.
