Will campaign against minister Prasad in Cherthala: G Sudhakaran

Kottayam: UDF-backed independent candidate in Ambalappuzha G Sudhakaran will campaign against LDF candidate P Prasad in Cherthala.

Speaking to reporters at his residence on Friday, Sudhakaran said he had no plans to campaign outside his constituency. However, he will speak against Prasad as the minister had made unwarranted comments about him, he said.

In 2021, Prasad, of CPI, got a majority of only 6,000 votes. In 2016, P Thilothaman had a majority of 18,000 votes. "Prasad's political victory in this election is hanging in the balance. He made unnecessary statements against me to make political criminals happy," said Sudhakaran.

Congress leaders from the region visited his house and accorded him a reception, Sudhakaran said. "They are working sincerely. Seventeen leaders visited me and extended support," he said, adding that he was people's independent candidate.

He said that Congress was giving him direct support. "I will not be having an election committee or conventions. There will be no wall writing," said Sudhakaran, adding that he would speak at a few meetings in the constituency.
