Stampede during tech fest: Counselling for students in Cusat

KOCHI: The department of Youth Welfare of Cusat has started providing intensive psychological counseling to students, parents and staff in the wake of the stampede at the campus that claimed four lives on Saturday night.

The counseling facility has been arranged in collaboration with Jeevani Center for Student Wellbeing Programme and district mental health programme. Services of six counselors are available at the student amenity centre of the university from Monday. The service will be extended to various departments when the classes commence.

Students, faculty, staff, and parents who find it difficult to come in person may contact the counselors over phone on 9037140611, 7594862553 and 9778440326 from 10.30 am to 4.30 pm and 9846136125, 9074744351 and 8368665997 from 3.30 pm to 9.30 pm. The University Student Counselor can be contacted round the clock on 9495675476 and 6238445310. Apart from this, the district mental health programme counselor can be availed on the toll-free number 14416.
