The decision was taken during a high-level meeting of investigating officials presided over by district superintendent of police S Sujithdas.

Kuzhalmannam police that arrested the accused, Prabhukumar and Suresh, on Saturday, suspect it to be case of honour killing.

Meanwhile, Kumareshan Pillai, grandfather of the victim’s wife, denied that he had conspired to kill Aneesh. He said when his much-loved granddaughter left the house to live with a boy without the approval of the family, he only advised her to return home. “The caste difference was not the reason to oppose the marriage but the economic backwardness of the boy as we didn’t want our daughter to suffer,” he said.

However, Aneesh’s parents Arumughan and Radha alleged Pillai’s hand behind their son’s death.
