Kochi Metro offers 50% discount to senior citizens

KOCHI: In a fresh effort to increase passenger footfall, the Kochi Metro offers 50% discount on ticket fare to senior citizens and one person who accompanies the senior citizen.
The new system would come into effect from Thursday. Senior citizens in the age group of 75 and above can avail the benefit by showing age proof at the customer care counters at the Metro stations.Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) authorities have informed that the facility is being introduced with an aim to attract all kinds of people irrespective of age group to the Metro train services.
KMRL is already offering discounts for students under different schemes. A student can travel unlimitedly for one day using the daily pass, which costs Rs 80. Under the monthly pass, a student can take 120 trips in 30 days and it will be issued with a 83% discount. tnn
