Kochi: In a major move that may revolutionize designs of public infrastructure projects in the state, Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) will form the Kerala Design Committee, which will consist of creative design experts from across the globe.
The committee will draft a design policy for the state government with the support of leading creative artists.
“We have to design big infrastructure projects such as highways and bridges and also small projects such as bus shelters in a better way, considering social and cultural aspects of the state. We are planning to bring many international experts together under the design committee with the government’s support,” said KSUM CEO Anoop Ambika while addressing the media on the sidelines of Kerala Design Week here on Friday.
Anoop said talent creation, establishment of centres of excellence, production and execution of designs are major steps in implementing the design policy, and C-DITs are likely to be converted to the CoE for these purposes.
“We have already started discussions regarding this with global giants in this sector, and the government will introduce the policy soon,” said Anoop.
He also said the Digital Hub announced by the state government would be ready by March end, and the upcoming Graphene Centre would be a part of the proposed Digital Hub.
KSUM has already initiated steps to set up community skill centres as part of its policy to start innovation centres in each constituency of the state. tnn
