Idukki: A policeman attached to

Munnar

police station was transferred to Mullaperiyar police station after it was found that he had leaked certain information from the police station to extremist outfits. According to sources, one of the three policemen, who are suspected to be behind the act, was transferred after the

Munnar DSP

seized their mobile phones for verification.
Idukki SP R Karuppasamy had on Tuesday directed the Munnar DSP to conduct a probe into the incident. Sources said while one policeman handed over the details to extremist outfits, two others provided help.
As part of the probe, Munnar DSP K R Manoj on Wednesday collected the mobile phones of three alleged cops for verification.
The DSP said that the policeman was transferred to Mullaperiyar police station as part of the general transfer. “Twelve police officers were transferred from the station and he was one of them. The probe is going on and the report has not been submitted to Idukki SP,” Manoj said.
In a similar incident, the Idukki SP had first suspended a civil police officer, Anas P K, attached to Karimannoor police station, and later terminated him from service in February for allegedly leaking out details of RSS/BJP leaders to an

SDPI

leader through the official domain of the police.
The issue came to light after a KSRTC conductor was brutally attacked by SDPI activists for sharing religious content on social media.
